National Family Week

It was President Dr. Carlos Roberto Reina who issued an executive decree designating the last week of August as Family Week and instructing different government agencies and the national education system to dedicate time and resources to celebrate Honduran families and reflect on the need for their promotion and protection.

The initiative was well received by various churches, particularly the Catholic Church, which declared the entire month of August as Marriage and Family Month.

The family has been and will continue to be the natural environment for birth, growth, and death, the best place to become a person, and the optimal setting to acquire values and practice essential ethical habits.

The United Nations designated the year 1994 as the International Year of the Family to highlight the invaluable contributions that the family institution provides in shaping citizens and promoting harmony in social life.
