Municipio de Trujillo
El municipio de Trujillo pertenece al departamento de Colón. Fue la primera capital de la Provincia y el primer puerto que tuvo Honduras.
Es la ciudad más antigua del país, fue fundada por Juan de Medina a petición de Francisco de las Casas. Punta de Caxinas, llamado así por los muchos árboles que habían de esta fruta, fue la primera tierra de Centroamérica que el ilustre Cristóbal Colón descubrió, aquel lugar llamado Punta de Caxinas, es el mismo donde se estableció después la Villa de Trujillo, designándola también con los nombres de Trujillo del Pinar, Puerto de Honduras, Villa de la Ascensión y Puerto Juan Gil.

Location
It shares the coastal plain of the Caribbean along the coast facing the Bay of Trujillo, but its constructions are located inland in a hilly relief.
