Biography of Felicito Ávila Ordóñez
He was born on February 21, 1949, in the village of El Vado, Nacaome, Valle. He is the father of five children. From a young age, he was a labor union activist, which allowed him to hold positions in labor organizations in the south and in Tegucigalpa, eventually becoming the General Secretary of the General Confederation of Workers (CGT).
In 1985, he played a key role in resolving the institutional crisis of that time.
The labor unions led the political class in 1985 to a solution for the crisis that had escalated to the point of imprisoning the newly appointed President of the Supreme Court, Ramón Valladares Soto, by orders of Suazo Córdova.
The timely intervention of the labor unions prevented a breakdown of the constitutional order that had its origins in the power ambitions of the now former President Roberto Suazo Córdova.
