July 14 – Honduran Pedagogue Day
Every July 14, the Honduran Pedagogue Day is celebrated in Honduras in honor of the birth of Dr. Ramón Rosa, who was one of the greatest reformers of education in Honduras.
Ramón Rosa Soto was born in Tegucigalpa on July 14, 1848, he was a prominent lawyer, journalist, politician and liberal writer of the second half of the 19th century.
He was the ideologue of the educational changes of the Liberal Reform in Guatemala between 1873 and 1876 during the government of General Justo Rufino Barrios and then that of Honduras, during the government of his cousin, Dr. Marco Aurelio Soto, where he served as Minister General of Government.
By decree number 52 issued on July 23, 1982 in the government of President Roberto Suazo Córdova decided to honor the memory of Dr. Ramón Rosa by establishing July 14 as the day of the Honduran Pedagogue.
