Municipality of Dolores Merendon



Dolores Merendón is a municipality in the Ocotepeque Department in Honduras.

In the 1887 population census, it was an Aldea (village) of San Jorge. On January 7, 1908, the municipality was created. In 1909, the municipal headquarters was moved to Fraternidad as a village, and then on November 21, 1910, it was granted municipality status once again. In the division of the Ocotepeque department, it appears as part of the La Encarnación District.

Location

The municipality borders San Jorge to the north, Sinuapa to the south, Fraternidad to the east, and Concepción to the west. It is located at a high altitude to the east of the mountain that bears its name.
