Municipality of El Rosario
El Rosario is a municipality in the Olancho Department of Honduras.
Location
The municipality is bordered to the north by the municipality of Yocón, to the south and east by the municipality of Salamá, and to the west by the municipalities of Yocón and Guayape. Its main town is located in a beautiful plain on the banks of the river from which it takes its name, in an area known as Las Animas. It is traversed by a branch of the Sulaco mountain range.
Historical Facts
The main town of this municipality, formerly known as Aldea Chachaguatero, belonged to the town of Yocón. It was created as a municipality in 1876. In the Territorial Political Division of 1889, it appears as a municipality in the Salamá District.
