Municipality of Guayape
Guayape is a municipality in the Olancho Department of Honduras.
Its name in Mexican means «Big Water» and it was called so because it is located on the banks of the Guayape River.
In the population census of 1801, it was part of the tenencia of Cedros. In the 1889 Territorial Political Division, it was one of the municipalities in the Salamá District.
Location
The municipality borders Yocón and El Rosario to the north, Guaimaca to the south, Salamá and Concordia to the east, and Orica to the west.
Its municipal seat is located at the foot of the so-called Cerro Viejo and on the right bank of the Guayape River. This municipality is crossed from north to west by the La Loma mountain and from south to east by the La Concepción mountain.
