Municipality of Quimistán
Quimistán is a municipality in the Department of Santa Bárbara in Honduras.
The settlement, which was taken by Don Pedro de Alvarado for distribution, was part of the curato (ecclesiastical jurisdiction) of Petoa in 1791, and in 1825 it belonged to the partido (political division) of San Pedro, which is now the city of San Pedro Sula.
The municipality covers an area of 745.3 km², and the patron saint festivities are celebrated in the month of June in honor of San Juan Bautista. The toponym «Quimistán» has Mexican origins and means «Place of mice or spies.»
