Municipality of San Agustin



San Agustín is a municipality in the department of Copán in Honduras.

In the Territorial Political Division of 1896, it was listed as a hamlet of Santa Rosa. It was granted municipality status on May 6, 1930, and its inauguration took place on August 1, 1930. On November 12, 1940, it became part of the District of Santa Rosa, and in 1957, municipal autonomy was restored.

Location

The municipality borders Concepción to the north, La Unión and Cucuyagua to the south, Santa Rosa de Copán to the east, and Santa Rita to the west.
The municipal seat is located on the eastern slope of the La Entrada or La Cumbre mountain.
