Municipality of San Ignacio
It is a municipality in the department of Francisco Morazán, in the Republic of Honduras.
For some time, it was a village of Cedros, as indicated by the 1896 political territorial division during the presidency of Rafael López Gutiérrez.
It was granted municipality status in 1924, but in the same year, it lost that status and became a village of Cedros again. It wasn’t until 1958, during the government of Dr. Villeda Morales, that it regained its definitive municipality status.
