Municipality of Talanga
It is a municipality in the department of Francisco Morazán, in the Republic of Honduras.
Until 1791, it appeared as a settlement within the jurisdiction of the Cantarranas curate. In 1829, it was granted municipality status under the presidency of Diego Vigil.
In the political division of 1889, it was part of the San Juan de Flores district (Cantarranas), under the name of San Diego de Talanga. In 1993, through decree no. 112, it was granted the title of city.

Origin of its name: Its original name was San Diego de Talanga, and in the Mesoamerican language, Talanga means «place of mud.»

- North: municipalities of Cedros and Guaimaca;

- East: municipality of Guaimaca;
- West: municipality of Distrito Central.
Economy
- Cultivation of staple crops, sugarcane, coffee, fruits, and vegetables; raising of cattle, horses, pigs, and goats; poultry farming.
