AGREEMENT No. 223
Tegucigalpa, September 2nd, 1953.
CONSIDERING: That culture is the strongest and most characteristic bond among all American Peoples, and that it would be the highest tribute to the spirit of America to dedicate a day of the year to pay homage to its culture.
THEREFORE, IT IS AGREED:
Article 1: To celebrate every year on October 13th as AMERICAN CULTURE DAY and to pay tribute of recognition and admiration to the work carried out by the Honduran thinker José Cecilio del Valle.
Article 2: To transcribe this agreement to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with a kind request to make it known to the Association of American Writers and Artists, based in the city of Havana, Republic of Cuba.
