Municipality of Sensenti
Sensenti is a municipality in the Ocotepeque Department in Honduras.
It was founded around the year 1540, and its name in the Mexican language means «Dry corn cob.»
In some manuscripts dating back to 1790, bearing the seal of His Majesty Carlos III, the king of Spain, Sensenti is already mentioned as the Alcaldía of the Santa Hermandad of Sensenti. In the first population census of 1791, it was the head of the Curato, and in the first Political Territorial Division of 1825, it was one of the districts forming the Department of Gracias. When the Department of Copán was created in 1869, Sensenti was part of it until the establishment of the Ocotepeque Department in 1906.
Location
The municipality borders Corquín and Lucerna to the north, San Marcos to the south, Belén Gualcho to the east, and San Francisco del Valle and La Labor to the west. Its head is located on the right bank of the Río Grande.
