Biography of María Dolores Agüero Lara



She has a degree in Legal Sciences with an orientation in International Law from the National Autonomous University of Honduras, and a Master in International Law (LL.M) Investments, Commerce and Arbitration, from the University of Chile and the University of Heidelberg, with the support of the Institute Max Planck of Comparative Public Law and the Institute of International Studies of the University of Chile.

In 2010, he began his career at the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, three years later he entered the Honduran Diplomatic and Consular Service by opposition. She has served as Legal Advisor on Investment and Trade Promotion, Director of Integration in the General Directorate of Foreign Policy, Member of the Organizing Committee of «Honduras is Open for Business», Executive Coordinator of the Pro Tempore Presidency of the System of the Central American Integration (SICA), which he held.

At the Central American regional level, Ambassador Agüero Lara is Presidential Commissioner for Integration, Representative for Honduras before the Executive Committee of SICA, and Representative and Spokesperson in the Central American Security Commission. He has represented Honduras in different international forums within the framework of the United Nations, and participated in the Councils of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of SICA, the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC). ), the Organization of Ibero-American States (OIE) and the Organization of American States (OAS)

Prior to his public career, he was working as an assistant to the Legal Advisory Department of the Honduran Council of Private Enterprise (COHEP), and as an associate member of the López Rodezno Law Firm. He speaks English as a second language.

Ambassador Agüero Lara was appointed by the President of the Republic as Secretary of State in the Offices of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on March 27, 2017.

His father has been vice president of Banco Atlántida. She has a brother and a sister.She studied Legal Sciences and International Law at the National Autonomous University of Honduras and completed a master’s degree in International Law at the University of Chile and the University of Heidelberg.
