Biography of José Alfonso Díaz Narvaez
He was born in El Progreso, Yoro, on August 16, 1982. He is 39 years old, single, and holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and civil engineering. He is currently completing a master’s degree in Project Formulation, Management, and Evaluation at UNAH.
He is the presidential candidate for the Unificación Democrática (UD) Party for the second time.
He completed his primary education at Doctor Ramón Rosa School in El Progreso, Yoro, and his secondary education at Perla del Ulúa Official Institute in the same city.
Both his degree in civil engineering and his bachelor’s degree in economics were obtained from the National Autonomous University of Honduras (UNAH).
In the social and political sphere, he began his involvement in the student movement at Perla del Ulúa Official Institute, and at UNAH, he was active in student movements and became a member of the Unificación Democrática (UD) Party.
Political Trajectory in the Unificación Democrática (UD) Party
• Student leader in secondary school at the National Federation of Secondary Students (FENAESH).
• Student leader at UNAH in the student organization Fuerza Universitaria Revolucionaria (FUR) from 2007 to 2012.
• President of the municipal board in the municipality of Tegucigalpa from 2012 to 2013.
• Vice President of the national board in 2015.
• President by law of the national board from January 2016 to May 2017 (replacing César Ham).
• President elected through the national assembly since May 20, 2017.
He stood out as the President of the Municipal Board of the Central District and was also the President of the Departmental Board of Francisco Morazán.
He then served as the Vice President of the National Board of the party, and since 2017, he has been the President of the National Board of the UD Party.
