The Prayer of the Honduran – Froylan Turcios
May God bless the bountiful land where I was born!
May the sun and the rains fertilize its cultivated fields; may its industries flourish and all its riches shine magnificently under its sapphire sky.
My heart and my thoughts, united in a single will, will exalt its name, in a constant effort for its culture.
As an active participant in the conquest of its high moral values, a permanent factor of peace and labor, I will join its energies; and in the home, in society, or in public affairs, in any aspect of my destiny, I will always bear in mind my inescapable obligation to contribute to the glory of Honduras.
I will stay away from alcohol and gambling, and from anything that may diminish my personality, in order to deserve the honor of being counted among its finest children.
I will respect its eternal symbols and the memory of its heroes, admiring its illustrious men and all those who excel in exalting it.
And I will never forget that my first duty, at all times, will be to courageously defend its sovereignty, its territorial integrity, its dignity as an independent nation; preferring to die a thousand times before seeing its land desecrated, its shield broken, its brilliant flag defeated.
May God bless the bountiful land where I was born!
Free and civilized, may its power grow in time and may its name shine in the vast conquests of justice and righteousness.
