Manuel de Adalid y Gamero

The bell says with its clear voice
that the hour of struggles has ended

Over the high mountains, the sun hides
and the birds sing a farewell to the day.
A mystical whisper floats in the air
it’s the prayer of children rising.

Come, give a kiss to your mother
who always prays to God,
that she may fill you with happiness
and give you her blessing.

Sleep my dear, sleep my love,
sleep, piece of my heart,
beside your cradle, I will keep watch
and the angel that God sends will watch over you.

Now the voice of the bell has faded
now the hour of struggles has ended.
