April 7 – World Health Day
In 1948, the First World Health Assembly proposed that a «World Health Day» be established to commemorate the founding of the World Health Organization (WHO).
Since 1950, World Health Day has been celebrated every April 7th. Each year, a specific health theme is chosen for that day to highlight a priority area of interest for the WHO.
World Health Day provides a global opportunity to focus attention on significant public health issues that affect the international community. On the occasion of World Health Day, promotion programs are launched that continue long after April 7th.
