June 9 – Honduran Police Day
Every year on June 9th, the men and women of the police force in Honduras are commemorated, as well as the anniversary of the birth of General José Trinidad Cabañas.
June 9th is celebrated as «National Day of the Honduran Police», an initiative of the National Congress, established by Legislative Decree in October 2008 to commemorate the birth of the Central American hero, General José Trinidad Cabañas.
To commemorate this day, various activities are organized, including a promotion ceremony and events such as a 10-kilometer police marathon that starts and finishes at the facilities of the National Police social club located in the village of El Ocotal.
