September 17 – Honduran Teacher’s Day
In 1923 it was agreed to establish on September 17 the day of the teacher in Honduras in honor of the hero José Trinidad Reyes, founder of the National Autonomous University of Honduras (UNAH).
The festival aims to make a dedication to teachers, professors, professors and people who make teaching their regular work. The commemoration in honor of teachers varies between different Latin American countries.
On October 5, 1994, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) instituted World Teachers’ Day in commemoration of the anniversary of the signing of the UNESCO / ILO Recommendation on the Situation of Personnel. Teacher in 1966.
This document details that teachers are the most energetic force in favor of equity, access and quality of education, a call to teaching means an exhortation in favor of quality education for all.
The document notes that quality education offers hope and carries the promise of better living standards. There is no stronger foundation for lasting peace and sustainable development than a quality education, delivered by competent, esteemed, supported and motivated teachers.
