Municipality of Guarizama
Guarizama is a municipality in the Olancho Department of Honduras.
Its name is derived from «Quanhilzamatil,» which refers to the black fig tree that likely grew in the area.
In the 1887 population census, it was listed as a village of Manto. In 1901, it was granted the status of a municipality.
Location
The municipality borders Gualaco to the north, San Francisco de la Paz to the east, and Manto to the south and west. It is situated south of the Telica River.
