Municipality of Sabanagrande
It is a municipality in the department of Francisco Morazán, in the Republic of Honduras.
Initially, it was known as Apacunca due to the abundance of this tree in the area. In 1750, the place was incorporated into the brotherhood of Our Lady of Goascorán, belonging to the church of Ojojona.
In the population census of 1791, it appears as part of the parish of Ojojona, and a church was built in the town in 1801. On December 13th, it was granted the title of city.

Origin of its name: Apacunca, which means «place of water for washing,» and Sabanagrande, which refers to the geographical feature of «a large expanse of grass.»

Cultivation of staple crops, sugarcane, citrus fruits, coffee, and vegetables; raising of cattle, horses, sheep, and pigs; poultry farming.
Location
It is located 33 kilometers from the capital and along the road that leads to San Lorenzo.
