Municipality of San Miguel Guancapla
The municipality of San Miguel Guancapla belongs to the Intibucá Department.
The origin of this town dates back to the report prepared in 1582 by the governor of the province, Alonso de Contreras Guevara, with the name Guancapla, with ten tributaries entrusted to Gaspar de Raudi. In the ecclesiastical census of 1791, it appeared as a town of Intibucá. The statistical yearbook by Antonio Vallejo shows it as a municipality since 1877.
