Municipality of Tatumbla
It is a municipality in the department of Francisco Morazán, in the Republic of Honduras.
The report from 1582 manifests the existence of an indigenous village called Tatumbla, with sixty tribute payers under the encomienda of Diego de Fúnez. In the population census of 1791, it appears as the head of the Santa Lucía curate. By 1889, it is already listed as a municipality in the district of San Antonio de Oriente.

Origin of its name: In Velasco’s geography, it is written as Totumba, which in the Mesoamerican language means «abundance of chickens.»
