Municipality of Trujillo
The municipality of Trujillo belongs to the department of Colon. First capital of the Province and the first port of Honduras.
It is the oldest city in the country, founded by Juan de Medina at the request of Francisco de las Casas. Punta de Caxinas, named after the many trees of this fruit, was the first land in Central America discovered by the illustrious Christopher Columbus. That place, called Punta de Caxinas, is the same where the Villa de Trujillo was later established, also known as Trujillo del Pinar, Puerto de Honduras, Villa de la Ascensión, and Puerto Juan Gil.

Banana cultivation, African palm, citrus fruits, sugarcane, vegetables, basic grains, and coconut; sheep, pig, horse, and sheep farming; poultry farming.
