Municipality of El Porvenir Francisco Morazan

It is a municipality in the department of Francisco Morazán, in the Republic of Honduras.

Initially, it was a village of Cedros, as stated in the political territorial division of 1896, until it was granted municipality status by decree No. 21 on February 7, 1964, during the presidency of Oswaldo López Arellano.

Cultivation of basic grains, sugarcane, rice, and vegetables; raising of cattle, horses, and pigs; poultry farming.

  • Education: 26 primary education centers, 12 pre-primary education centers, 3 secondary education centers, and 1 kindergarten.
  • Communication Network: Accessible roads at all times, telephone services provided by Hondutel, and mobile phone coverage.

Location

Located in the Siria Valley and very close to El Mogote hill.

Limits

  • North: Municipality of Marale;
  • South: Municipalities of Vallecillo and Cedros;
  • East: Municipality of San Ignacio;
  • West: Municipalities of Esquías, Minas de Oro, and San José del Potrero (all in Comayagua).
