Municipality of La Labor

La Labor is a municipality in the Ocotepeque Department in Honduras.

The origin of its name seems to be related to its early settlers and workers in the rich mines they had. They were known for their hard work, and thus the name «La Labor» was given to the municipality.

La Labor was founded in 1775. In the population count of 1791, it was part of the Curato de Sensenti. It was designated as a municipality in 1785, and in 1926, it was one of the districts into which the Department was divided.

Location

The municipality borders Lucerna and Fraternidad to the north, San Francisco del Valle to the south, Sensenti to the east, and Sinuapa to the west. It is located in the Sensenti Valley, between the foothills of the Merendón Mountain Range.
