Municipality of Petoa

Petoa is a municipality in the department of Santa Bárbara in Honduras.

In the population count of 1791, it appears as the head of a curacy and in the Territorial Political Division of 1889, it was a municipality of the Quimistán District.

Location

The municipality borders to the north with the municipality of Quimistán, to the south with the municipalities of Trinidad and Concepción del Norte, to the east with the municipality of Villanueva and to the west with the municipality of San Marcos. The branches of the Chamelecón and Cacaulapa Rivers cross within its municipal jurisdiction.
