September 22 – National No Smoking Day
DECREE No. 182-93
Considering: That tobacco use in the population can lead children and youth to smoke and consume other drugs.
Considering: That it is widely proven that tobacco consumption causes lung cancer, cardiovascular and digestive diseases, as well as respiratory problems.
Considering: That the fight against tobacco is worldwide, and Honduras cannot exclude itself from it.
THEREFORE,
DECREE:
Article 1- Declare NATIONAL NO SMOKING DAY on September 22nd of each year, for which all educational and health institutions, as well as all government agencies, shall be notified to cooperate in the celebration of this day with various initiatives, for the sake of the health of the Honduran people.
Article 2- This Decree shall enter into force as of the date of its publication in the Official Gazette «La Gaceta».
Given in the city of Tegucigalpa, Municipality of the Central District, in the session hall of the National Congress, on the twenty-seventh day of September, nineteen ninety-three.
