Municipality of Lamani
Lamaní is a municipality in the department of Comayagua in Honduras.
The origin of the name given to the municipality, Lamaní, comes from the Mesoamerican language, which means «Place of Potters».
This municipality was founded by an unknown individual in the year 1684. At that time, it was called Maniani. It was previously recorded in the registry of native towns in the Province of Honduras in 1582. Later on, it had a total of 15 inhabitants during the mandate of Licenciado Dionisio de Herrera.
One of the sons of Lamaní is the football player Fernando «El Azulejo» Bulnes, who played for Atlético Español between 1965-1966.
Location
The municipality is located at the southern end of the Comayagua department, bordering the departments of Francisco Morazan and La Paz. The Cerro Picacho de la Tablazón is located to the south, and the Cerro de Agua Blanca is situated to the west. Additionally, it is surrounded by the Jute River, also known as the Lamaní River.
The temperature in summer and winter ranges from a maximum of 90º to 40º Fahrenheit.
Economy
Among the main occupations, the inhabitants of Lamaní engage in agriculture, producing basic grains and fruits such as mangoes and bananas.
The primary livestock in the municipality includes chickens, cattle, horses, and pigs. Additionally, there are ducks and rabbits.

Lamaní has exactly 7 villages and 64 hamlets as of 2009. The municipal seat, Lamaní, is located in the center-north of the municipality.
