Municipality of Lejamani
Lejamaní is a municipality in the department of Comayagua in Honduras.
The origin of the name given to the municipality, Lejamaní, means «place where precious stones are carved» in Mesoamerican language.
The history of this municipality begins when Lejamaní was entrusted to King Philip II of Spain. According to El Anuario de Vallejo, this municipality was founded in 1630.
It received the title of municipality on September 13, 1842. They also celebrate their patron saint festivals on June 24 in honor of Saint John and on December 17, the Day of Our Lady of Sorrows.
Location
The municipality is located in the southern center of the Comayagua department. It is in the Comayagua Valley at the foot of the Playón Mountain, situated to the south of the Tepanguara River. It is southwest of the city of Comayagua (12 kilometers) and north of La Paz, the department’s capital city (6 kilometers), accessible by a paved road.
Agriculture and Livestock
Among the main agricultural products are corn, beans, rice, onions, and fruits.
The primary livestock in the municipality includes cattle, horses, and pigs. Additionally, poultry such as chickens and roosters are also important in the municipality’s livestock sector.

Lejamaní has exactly 1 village and 11 hamlets as of 2015. The municipal seat, Lejamaní, is located slightly northwest of the center of the municipality.
