Municipality of Yocón
Yocón is a municipality in the department of Olancho in Honduras.
Its name is derived from a type of reed used to make baskets.
In the population census of 1801, it appeared as a village in the subdelegation of Olancho. It is believed that the first Municipality was elected in 1821 when it was the district seat. Later, the district seat was moved to Salamá, and Yocón became one of the municipalities within it.
Location
The municipality borders Mangulile and La Unión to the north, Guayape and El Rosario to the south, El Rosario and La Unión to the east, and Marale and Guayape to the west. It is situated south of the Peña River.
