Municipality of Dolores

Dolores is a municipality in the department of Copán in Honduras.

In the 1887 population census, it was already listed as a populated place within the municipality of Santa Rosa. When the Municipality of Dulce Nombre was created in 1907, Dolores became part of it, and on April 11, 1919, it was granted the status of a municipality, officially inaugurated on January 1, 1920.

Location

The municipality borders the municipality of San Jerónimo to the north, Dulce Nombre to the south, Veracruz and Trinidad de Copán to the east, and San Jerónimo and Concepción to the west. It is situated in the central part of the department, 5 km from Dulce Nombre. Its headquarters is located at the foothills of Cerro Bañaderos.
