Municipality of Colomoncagua
The municipality of Colomoncagua belongs to the Intibucá Department.
In the 1582 report by Governor Alonso de Contreras Guevara to King Philip II of Spain, it appears as Moncagua, an indigenous town in Gracias with 50 tributaries entrusted to Francisco Hernández. It was given municipality status in 1671. In 1883, it became part of the Intibucá department.
