Municipality of Caridad
Caridad is a municipality in the Department of Valle of Honduras.
Location
The municipality borders the municipalities of San Antonio del Norte and Lauterique to the north, Aramecina to the south, Curaren to the east, and the Republic of El Salvador to the west.
Historical Facts
Originally, it was the La Caridad Estate, as recorded in the 1801 population census of the Nacaome jurisdiction. The estate belonged to the Maldonado family of Guatemalan origin, who requested it to be converted into communal land.
In the first Political Territorial Division of 1825, it was part of Comayagua, in 1869 it became part of the La Paz Department, and in 1893 it formed the Valle Department.
